TUPELO, Miss. — According to the latest research from the American Bible Society, the country continues to be deeply divided over faith and trust. Yet amid growing distrust of government and media, the findings reveal an encouraging trend — more Americans are looking to Scripture as a reliable source of truth and stability. The data show that 36% of Americans believe the Bible is totally accurate, even as trust in organized religion sits at 29%, the media at 5%, and government trust at 6%.
Walker Wildmon, CEO of AFA Action, the governmental affairs affiliate of the American Family Association, attributes the erosion of trust in the media and government to recent indoctrination, encouraging Americans to seek God’s truth in the Bible.
“Americans have lost trust in the media and government because these institutions have largely become dishonest and corrupt,” said Wildmon. “When many headlines are propaganda and many policies are self-serving, people are turning back to the only truth that hasn’t changed — the Bible. God’s Word doesn’t shift with politics or public opinion; it is the same yesterday, today and forever. America doesn’t need another expert — it needs repentance, truth and a return to Scripture.”
