TUPELO, Miss. — This past weekend, The Washington Post reported that the White House has no intention of imposing an IVF coverage mandate on insurance companies. Although expanding IVF access is still a top priority for President Trump, it remains a controversial issue among the Republican Party.
The moral and ethical concerns surrounding IVF are still very much a present issue, according to Walker Wildmon, CEO of AFA Action, the governmental affairs affiliate of the American Family Association.
“It is a relief the White House isn’t pushing a mandate on IVF coverage, but that doesn’t mean the issue is settled. IVF raises serious ethical concerns, especially for those of us who believe the truth that life begins at conception,” said Wildmon. “You can’t build a culture of life on the destruction of embryos. If we really want to support families, we should strengthen marriage, protect the unborn, and support moms and dads — not subsidize practices that treat life as disposable.”
