TUPELO, Miss. — After experiencing lower sales and consumer backlash from their 2023 Pride Month collection, Target recently announced plans for 2024 Pride Month. In a recent statement, the company said, “We’re offering a collection of products, including adult apparel and home and food and beverage items, curated based on consumer feedback. The collection will be available on Target.com and in select stores, based on historical sales performance.” Due to the controversy over Target’s 2023 pride collection which included “tuck-friendly” swimsuits for transgender men, the company lost around $14 billion in market value.
As the government affairs affiliate of the American Family Association, AFA Action condones Target’s Pride Month plans as the company is actively promoting a lifestyle that goes against God’s word and design for mankind.
“Target’s continued and increased promotion and celebration of lifestyles contrary to God’s design are unacceptable,” says AFA Action CEO Walker Wildmon. “Scripture clearly states in Genesis 1:27, ‘God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them,’ establishing the foundation of gender as a divine ordinance. Target’s decision to host and promote so-called pride activities and spotlight LGBTQ-owned brands not only contradicts these foundational truths but also promotes a lifestyle that is known to cause physical, emotional, and spiritual harm to individuals. The LGBTQ lifestyle is one of destruction and regret. Christians must categorically reject initiatives that advocate ideologies deviating from the teachings of the Bible. Target must reconsider its policies and initiatives that alienate a significant portion of its customer base, who cherish biblical values.”
