TUPELO, Miss. — Last Thursday, Senate Republicans prompted the “nuclear option” to change the rules of the upper chamber and allow senators to confirm lower-level Trump nominees. Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., initiated this strategy after accusing Democrats of obstructing Trump’s nominees.
Tim Wildmon, American Family Association (AFA) president and president emeritus for AFA Action, applauds Senator Thune for taking authority to expedite the appointment process.
“American Family Association and AFA Action thank Senator John Thune for his leadership in breaking through the gridlock that has stalled President Trump’s nominations and left key positions unfilled,” said Wildmon. “This necessary rule change is a victory for good governance, ensuring that qualified men and women can get to work serving the American people and the duly elected president. AFA and AFA Action called for an end to these obstruction tactics, and we are grateful to see the people’s voices heard as the Senate takes action to restore accountability and respect the Constitution.”
