TUPELO, Miss. — Blue states across the country have been denying Christian families the ability to foster and adopt unless they agree to affirm a child’s gender identity, use preferred pronouns or support medical transition procedures — even for minors. These policies have resulted in Christian couples being labeled “unfit,” not because they lack compassion, but because they refuse to embrace gender ideology in their own homes.
According to Walker Wildmon, CEO of AFA Action, the governmental affairs affiliate of the American Family Association, President Trump’s new executive order is a long-overdue response to this discrimination and a critical step toward protecting Christian families.
“States that blacklist Christian parents aren’t protecting children — they’re abandoning them. Loving moms and dads are being disqualified not for lack of compassion, but for refusing to lie to a hurting child about something as fundamental as biological reality. President Trump is right to confront this abuse head-on and call out states that place ideology above a child’s need for a permanent, stable home. This executive order signals that discrimination against Christian families will not be ignored. If states want federal partnership, they cannot punish parents for their faith. AFA Action will continue standing with every family targeted for believing what Scripture teaches and for refusing to surrender their convictions to a political agenda.”
