TUPELO, Miss. — Gallup’s recent Mood of the Nation poll reported a near-record low 47% of Americans feel “very satisfied” with their lives; compared to the high 90% reported in January of 2020. Among other results from the poll, 31% of Americans said they were somewhat satisfied, 11% were somewhat dissatisfied and 9% were very disappointed. The study found that the most satisfied people were those who were college-educated, married, making $100,000 or more, and attended religious services weekly.
Walker Wildmon, CEO of AFA Action, the Government Affairs Affiliate of the American Family Association, commented on the Gallup report, stating that being grounded in a faith-filled marriage and attending church services frequently are two key institutions to keeping Americans fulfilled.
“At a historic time of financial uncertainty and societal changes in America, the Gallup data underscores the correlation between life satisfaction and the traditional Christian values of marriage and regular church attendance,” stated Wildmon. “The institution of marriage has long provided emotional, mental, and financial stability for all family members. Regular church attendance gives people of faith a sense of purpose that contributes to overall life satisfaction. America must uphold these two institutions as a beacon of hope, guiding us toward a more fulfilled life, which is rooted in faith in Jesus Christ.”
