WASHINGTON — A new national study from iVoterGuideAFA Action and researcher Dr. George Barna finds that while 85% of likely voters turn out for the top of the ballot, only 55% vote all the way down it, abandoning the school board, judicial, and local races that most directly shape their communities. The reason, the data shows, isn’t apathy. It’s that voters can’t find information they trust. That’s why iVoterGuide (iVoterGuide.com), the nation’s premier Christian voting guide, partnered with Dr. George Barna, one of the most trusted names in faith-based research in America, to look into the how Americans were influenced by their beliefs and values when it comes to voting. Weeks before the highly anticipated 2026 midterms, this free Barna report will help readers not only understand the impact their worldview has on their votes, but also what this data might indicate for the future of America.

“At iVoterGuide, we’ve long believed that the decisions shaping our schools, our courts, and our communities are made in the races all across the ballot, but the biggest impact comes from the races most voters never reach — the ones at the bottom,” said iVoterGuide President Debbie Wuthnow. “That conviction is why we partnered with Dr. George Barna and the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University to commission this national study.

“What the data revealed is both sobering and clarifying: even our most faithful voters go quiet down-ballot, dropping from 85% participation in the top races to just 55% down ballot. The reason is not apathy, but the absence of trustworthy information. That is precisely the reason iVoterGuide exists and the gaps we close.”

This compelling report uncovered troubling finds about how American approached the ballot. 36% of likely voters say the school board race is the office they feel least equipped to vote for, directly impacting who gets to influence young minds in schools across America. The majority of voters (64%) agreed that access to a trusted, accurate, and unbiased source of down-ballot candidate information would affect their likelihood of voting — making iVoterGuide the uncontested solution.

“My prayer is that these findings will not only inform readers but move them to vote the entire ballot, to equip those around them, and to recognize local races for the consequential decisions they truly are,” concluded Wuthnow.
