TUPELO, Miss.— This November, Montana voters will decide on the state’s abortion rights, seeking to enshrine Montana’s 1999 Supreme Court ruling that said, “the constitutional right to privacy protects the right to a pre-viability abortion by a provider of the patient’s choice.” According to AP News, “Opponents of the initiative made several efforts to try to keep it off the ballot, and supporters took several of the issues to court.” Montana’s Republican controlled legislature has passed numerous bills to restrict abortion access in the state, including a law passed last year that stated the right to privacy does not protect the right to an abortion.
Walker Wildmon, CEO of AFA Action, the governmental affairs affiliate of the American Family Association, is calling on voters to protect the unborn and defend life at every opportunity.
“Montana’s ballot measure to enshrine abortion in the state constitution is a direct affront to the sanctity of life and the will of pro-life Montanans,” says Wildmon. “This initiative not only defies the biblical and scientific reality that life begins at conception but also undermines the values of a state that has consistently sought to protect the unborn. By promoting the killing of innocent lives under the guise of ‘privacy,’ this measure directly rejects God’s commandment, ‘You shall not murder’ (Exodus 20:13). AFA Action calls on every Montanan to stand against this wickedness and vote to protect the lives of the unborn by voting NO on Constitutional Amendment CI-128. We also urge pro-life citizens in every state to be vigilant — these dangerous initiatives could be coming to your ballots next. Stand firm and defend life at every opportunity.”
