TUPELO, Miss. — A federal appeals court recently ruled that Florida can crack down on “deception” surrounding the safety of “mutilating” procedures on children. Republican Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier successfully appealed a Chicago-based panel’s June 22 ruling that blocked Florida from pursuing a claim against the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) for allegedly misleading the public on child sex-changes, Reuters reported.
“For too long, powerful medical organizations have pushed irreversible gender procedures on children while dismissing anyone who dared question the damaging evidence,” said Walker Wildmon, CEO of AFA Action, the governmental affairs affiliate of the American Family Association. “We applaud Florida for investigating whether parents have been misled about the risks of these life-altering and mutilating procedures. No medical association should be immune from accountability simply because it claims scientific authority. When children’s bodies and futures are at stake, only the truth matters.”
