TUPELO, Miss. — HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. revealed that the Biden administration was imposing rules that mandated adoption placements to affirm LGBTQ identities, a policy he said significantly decreased the number of homes available for vulnerable youth. “President Trump and First Lady Trump’s vision for foster care is one family for every one child. Currently, there are two children for every available foster family because the Biden Administration was excluding an entire class of foster families due to their religious beliefs. This is unacceptable, and we are changing that,” Kennedy remarked.
Under the Biden administration’s ruling, AFA Action, the governmental affairs affiliate of the American Family Association¸ was at the forefront of exposing the attacks on Christianity; one of them being the “Designated Placement Requirements Under Titles IV–E and IV–B of the Social Security Act for LGBTQI+ Children.”
“When the government forces families to choose between their sincerely held religious beliefs and the opportunity to become foster parents, we have entered coercion and left child welfare in the rear view,” said CEO Walker Wildmon. “The Biden-era rule imposed exactly that kind of ultimatum, effectively establishing an official orthodoxy: affirm a government-backed ideology, or you cannot foster. As AFA Action outlined in our formal comments, this kind of mandate is not only unconstitutional, it’s a direct violation of the First Amendment and a ‘handy implement for disguised religious persecution.’
“Policies like this don’t protect children; they reduce the number of safe, qualified, loving homes and leave more kids without the stability they need.”
