TUPELO, Miss. — Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) brought the SAVE America Act to the floor last week, more than a month after the bill was approved by the House and amid rising tension to pass the legislation. Democrats in the Senate rejected a proposed amendment that would have restricted federally-funded educational institutions from permitting biological males to participate in women’s sports. Advanced by Senators Tuberville (R-Ala.) and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), 49 Republicans voted in favor of the provision, while 41 Democrats voted against it, leaving support for the amendment below the 60-vote threshold to advance.
The topic of allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports has been a hot-button issue among voters, receiving support across party lines. Walker Wildmon, CEO of AFA Action, the governmental affairs affiliate of the American Family Association, points to the democratic party’s denial of God’s order for the nation in failing to protect the integrity of women’s athletics.
“Males should not be competing in female sports. Plain and simple,” said Wildmon. “This amendment would have ensured that schools that receive federal funding are protecting fairness in competition for female athletes, yet Senate Democrats voted against it. The vote was not because it is a complicated issue; the vote was a direct result of the Democrat party’s rejection of reality and truth. The Democrat party misses no opportunity to thumb their nose at God and reject His created order.”
