TUPELO, Miss. — Lynwood Unified School District in Los Angeles County, California, was recently sued for failing to provide the Center for American Liberty information regarding “gender transition” plans for schoolchildren, violating the California Public Records Act. “LUSD’s refusal to respond to a public records request is not only illegal, it is part of a broader trend of schools across California keeping parents in the dark about what’s really happening in the classroom. Parents have a right to know, and Lynwood is not above the law,” stated the Center for American Liberty.
The public records requested from the school district regarded information on district policies on maintaining and disclosing student records; information on so-called gender support plans; and information on communications with outside organizations.
Without attaining these records, “the center believes Lynwood Unified may be hiding student gender transition plans and partnerships with organizations pushing gender ideology like with the other districts it has exposed.”
“The Lynnwood Unified School District’s refusal to release public records on gender transition plans is not just a violation of parental rights but further proof that the left is using our children as pawns to force their dangerous and disturbing ideologies and agendas,” says Walker Wildmon, CEO of AFA Action, the governmental affairs affiliate of the American Family Association. “By hiding critical information from parents, they are undermining family authority and promoting a radical, dangerous agenda that flies in the face of scientific truth. This blatant abuse of power must be stopped, and it’s time to hold these school board officials accountable for placing children at the mercy of their twisted worldview.”
