On Tuesday, February 28, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves (R) signed House Bill 1125, or the Regulate Experimental Adolescent Procedures (REAP) Act, into law. The bill will ban gender-affirming care in the state for anyone younger than 18.
Walker Wildmon, CEO of AFA Action (www.afaaction.net), the government affairs affiliate of the American Family Association, applauded the passing of the bill and added that minors now will be protected from being the guinea pigs of the transgender movement.
“There is a dangerous move afoot to take advantage of youth struggling with gender dysphoria and force them into undergoing life-altering surgery in the name of ‘gender affirming care,’” Wildmon stated. “Such surgeries are horrific in nature and often destroy one’s biological makeup which lead to a lifetime of depression and regret. God created male and female in His image and likeness. All medical procedures should affirm our natural design as opposed to destroy it. This is especially true when dealing with youth that are already in a vulnerable state and often can’t speak for themselves. Mississippi has taken an important step to protect the physical and emotional innocence of youth. We will continue to replicate this model legislation around the nation.”
