TUPELO, Miss. — Recent data unveiled from Worldometer reported that abortion was the leading cause of death worldwide in 2024, with 45.1 million lives aborted. Cancer, smoking, HIV/AIDS, traffic fatalities and suicide were among the leading causes of non-abortion deaths. “Totaling all the deaths in the world from causes other than abortion reveals a figure of 62.5 million, meaning that abortions accounted for just over 42 percent of all human deaths in 2024,” Breitbart stated. Specifically in the United States, abortion accounts for approximately one-third of annual deaths.
Walker Wildmon, CEO of AFA Action, the governmental affairs affiliate of the American Family Association is urging elected officials to recognize the moral decline in America and around the world that has led to the disrespect for the unborn and to uphold God’s greatest gift, life.
“In 2024, abortion claimed 45.1 million lives worldwide — more than cancer, smoking, HIV/AIDS, traffic accidents and suicide combined,” said Wildmon. “This means that one-third of all annual deaths in the U.S. are under the guise of ‘choice,’ but in reality, fall on the altar of convenience. This isn’t just a tragedy; it’s a global crisis that reveals the moral collapse of a society unwilling to protect its most vulnerable. The world doesn’t have a ‘shortage of babies’; it has a shortage of courage and conviction to end this atrocity. Policymakers have a duty to craft laws that unapologetically defend life and ultimately end this bloodshed.”
