TUPELO, Miss. — Research conducted by AFA Action shows that while Big Box Abortion providers are receiving hundreds of millions in Medicaid funding, disabled children and vulnerable adults are waiting for care. As Medicaid has departed from its core mission, many states have limited Medicaid services for the people the program was intended to serve. The Home-and-Community-Based Services (HCBS) program, in particular, is designed to provide supplemental, but often highly needed, services to vulnerable groups. In about 40 states, however, these vulnerable patients cannot get the care they need and are placed on waiting lists.
“Social and fiscal conservatives agree that taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to subsidize billion-dollar abortion operatives. Our research provides even more reason to defund abortion in the One Big Beautiful Bill. Nationwide, about 700,000 truly needy people languish on Medicaid waiting lists. The ugly truth is that Big Box Abortion has been getting government funding that could be going to children with disabilities and vulnerable adults,” said Dr. Jameson Taylor, director of the Center for Government Renewal for AFA Action.
According to the nonpartisan Charlotte Lozier Institute, Planned Parenthood, one of the largest abortion providers in the United States, already has an annual budget of more than $2 billion. Almost $700 million of their revenue comes from Medicaid and other taxpayer-subsidized healthcare programs. In addition, other abortion-affiliated groups around the country receive millions of dollars in Title X funding. The reconciliation budget does not cut any of this Title X grant funding.
“While providing healthcare services for medically complex patients will always be an ongoing challenge, one thing is clear: billion-dollar abortion operatives shouldn’t be receiving Medicaid funding that could instead be used to help disabled children and elderly patients. Senate Majority Leader John Thune needs to stand strong and stop Medicaid abortion funding in the One Big Beautiful Bill,” concluded Taylor.
