Last week, President Trump sought to negotiate an economic partnership with Ukraine, offering a rare earth mineral deal that would have strengthened Ukraine’s economy, brought American investment into the region, and provided a form of security assurance. But instead of seizing this opportunity, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky derailed the negotiations – on live television.
On a recent episode of At the Core, I broke down what really happened in the now-infamous Oval Office meeting. Reports suggest that Zelensky agreed to the mineral deal in prior discussions with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. But when the cameras rolled, he turned combative – interrupting, making inflammatory statements, and ultimately forcing President Trump’s team to walk away from the negotiating table.
This raises serious questions: Did Zelensky ever intend to sign the deal, or was this political theater? Why would he sabotage a deal that would bring Ukraine economic stability and security? And why is the media refusing to show the full context of the meeting, instead pushing a misleading narrative?
One thing is clear: President Trump is committed to ending the bloodshed in Ukraine and ensuring that America’s interests come first. The question is – does Zelensky share that goal?
Tune in to the complete discussion during the last segment of the episode here.
