For the first time in years, we may be looking at a serious federal effort to defund Planned Parenthood – and this time, it’s built into the federal budget bill itself.
On a recent episode of At the Core, I spoke with Kelsey Pritchard of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America about a provision in the House-passed budget bill that would cut off Medicaid reimbursements to any abortion provider. That includes Planned Parenthood, which receives over $500 million each year in Medicaid funds, even under the so-called protections of the Hyde Amendment.
This new provision changes the game. It doesn’t just say taxpayer dollars can’t be used for abortions. It says if you perform abortions, you no longer qualify for Medicaid money – period. Planned Parenthood has already admitted that if this becomes law, up to 200 of their facilities could close.
That’s what’s on the line in the Senate.
Predictably, pro-abortion Republicans like Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins are already wavering. But this is a defining moment. It’s not about politics; it’s about whether America will continue using taxpayer dollars to prop up the nation’s largest abortion chain.

That’s our calling. And that’s why AFA Action exists: to advocate for policies that defend life, protect families, and preserve biblical values in government. If this provision holds, it will mark one of the biggest pro-life federal victories since the Dobbs decision. But it won’t happen unless senators feel pressure to stand for life. Now is the time for boldness.
The truth is simple: If we want a nation that honors life, we must stop funding death.
