On a recent episode of At the Core, I shared testimony from Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett about the threats she and her family have faced.
She described being send home with a bulletproof vest during a period of intense threats and then having to explain to her 12-year-old son wat it was and why she needed it.
She also spoke about a recent swatting incident at her home and threatening deliveries designed to intimidate her and other members of the judiciary.
The question is, how high is the threat level? As Justice Barrett said, “the threat level is really high.”
This is part of a persistent pattern of threats and violence against conservatives, Republicans, public officials, and anyone who stands against the ideological agendas of the Left.
President Trump has faced assassination attempts. Justice Brett Kavanaugh faced an assassination attempt. And conservative leaders have been repeatedly labeled haters, bigots, Nazis, and threats to democracy.
That rhetoric has consequences.
Our judges and elected officials must be able to carry out their responsibilities without fearing for their lives or the safety of their families. Political violence and intimidation cannot become normal in America.
