There has been a topic causing controversy recently, especially within parts of the church: whether women can serve as pastors.
On a recent episode of At the Core, I talked about the Southern Baptist Convention passing the Truth and Unity Amendment, which brings needed clarity to that issue.
First, we must realize that this should not be a controversial topic.
God’s Word is not unclear on the role of pastor. Yet in our cultural climate, and even in parts of the church, there is constant pressure to soften, redefine, or work around biblical truth.
That is dangerous.
Once we start treating Scripture as something to be adjusted to fit the spirit of the age, we are no longer submitting to God’s authority. We are submitting to man’s opinion.
This is bigger than one denomination. It is about whether the church will stand on the whole counsel of God’s Word or slowly compromise where the culture applies pressure.
We cannot be lukewarm.
Truth still matters. Biblical order still matters. And the church must have the courage to say so.
