If you didn’t already know, America is in a childbearing crisis.
On At the Core recently, I shared a staggering truth that America hasn’t been at population replacement levels for over 40 years. For decades, fewer families have been having children, and the numbers are far below what we need to sustain our population, economy, and culture.
That’s why one of the most meaningful – and practical – policies coming out of the Trump administration is something called “Trump Accounts.”
What are Trump Accounts? Starting in 2026, every newborn child in America will have a personal investment account opened in their name. The government will deposit $1,000 to kick-start the fund, and families (as well as employers) can contribute up to $5,000 per year in tax-advantaged savings. These accounts will grow over time through investments in the stock market.
But why does this matter to our current childbearing crisis? Because we need to build a culture that invests in children, not just with rhetoric, but with something practical. These accounts are a game-changing step toward that goal. Senator Ted Cruz called them “an introduction to capitalism.” I call them a pro-life, pro-child, pro-family policy that gives every American child a head start.
These accounts won’t solve everything, but they signal a massive shift. Instead of treating children as a burden, this policy of the Trump administration treats them as a blessing and an inheritance as Scripture says they are. Let’s build a future where families thrive, children are welcomed, and life is celebrated at every stage.
