As we are about to celebrate the Lord’s Death and Resurrection, let’s pause to thank God for His mercy on our country. Imagine where we would be if Hillary Clinton had been elected president in 2016 – or Kamala Harris in 2024. We would be in a much different situation, fighting for our basic rights as Christians.
With a thankful heart, I am asking you to do one thing this week: help President Trump’s Department of Health and Human Services protect foster care for Christians. You can do this by submitting a comment supporting his agency’s efforts to end discriminatory policies pushed by the Biden administration.

You might recall that a few years ago, we were fighting a federal scheme to exclude Christians from state foster care systems.
Along with state attorneys general from around the country, we argued that what the Biden administration was trying to do was unconstitutional, violated parental rights, and harmed children. Consider this statement from Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall:
“This proposed rule seeks to accomplish indirectly what the Supreme Court found unconstitutional just two years ago: remove faith-based providers from the foster care system if they will not conform their religious beliefs on sexual orientation and gender identity. … In addition to discriminating against religion, the proposed rule will harm children by limiting the number of available foster homes, harm families by risking kinship placements, and harm states by increasing costs and decreasing care options.”
Thanks to our joint efforts, the Biden administration walked back its initial plans but went forward with a very bad final rule requiring states to ensure that children labeled as “LGBTQI+” be given access to “specially designated placements.” Basically, the federal government was trying to create a separate LGBTQ foster care track, with federal funding to support this agenda.
The Trump administration is proposing to rescind this Biden-era rule. If their efforts are successful, this horrible regulation goes away.

Even a short comment is better than no comment at all. Here are five points you can share:
• This unconstitutional rule should be removed from the Federal Register because it could be weaponized by a future administration against families whose religion opposes LGBTQ sexual practices.
• By remaining on the books, this bad rule could be used as a form of non-official “guidance” that a future administration could use to accomplish the same goals. There is very little transparency and accountability for such guidance. And because “guidance” does not have the force of law, judges sometimes allow it to remain in effect.
• The rule finalized by the Biden administration is a violation of children’s rights because it imposes a sexualized agenda upon them. The government should not be forcing children to believe the lie that they can choose their own gender, and it should not be encouraging children to identify as sexual objects.
• This proposed rule is unconstitutional. It goes against the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Fulton v. City of Philadelphia (2021). A federal district court also struck down this rule as an agency overreach.
• The final rule pushed by the Biden administration violates parental rights by blocking biological and custodial parents from obtaining necessary information about their child’s psychological state and activities. This could increase youth suicide rates by preventing children from getting the help, prayers and guidance they need from those who love and care for them.
