We have learned from our friends at Family Research Council in Washington D.C. that the House of Representatives could very well take up H.R. 734, The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, this week.
Introduced by Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) and co-sponsored by 93 Republicans, H.R. 734 will prohibit school athletic programs from allowing individuals whose biological sex at birth was male to participate in programs that are for women or girls.
Specifically, the bill provides that it is a violation of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 for federally-funded education programs or activities to operate, sponsor, or facilitate athletic programs or activities that allow individuals of the male sex to participate in programs or activities that are designated for women or girls. (Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in federally-funded education programs or activities, including in public elementary and secondary schools and in colleges and universities.) Under the bill, sex is based on an individual’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.
As you well know, transgenders are bullying their way into female sports, taking awards that should be reserved for biological females. We’ve told you about Lia Thomas, a male who vaulted into the top spot in women’s collegiate swimming.
And just last week, we shared how transgender activists are now becoming violent against female athletes.
Women and girls deserve to compete equally in sports with other biological females, without the threat or fear of being forced to rival a male counterpart.
