Dr. Carey Wright, MS State Superintendent of Education, has:
On May 13, Dr. Wright violated moral and legal principles when she bound MS public schools, including K-12, to "adhere to ...the joint guidance issued" by the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Justice. The federal "guidance" Dr. Wright agreed to for MS schools allows males, who perceive themselves as female, to enter the girl's restroom and locker room. Boys are not obligated to produce a specific medical diagnosis or identification documents that reflect his or her gender identity before entering the girl's restroom.
Although Dr. Wright reversed her decision, her initial and misguided decision was made independent of the MS Board of Education, which sets policy. Her independent action violated Section 203 of the MS Constitution that establishes the Board of Education to "formulate policies according to law for implementation by the State Department of Education." Parents and grandparents of public school students deserve an education leader who will uphold the law and the values of a vast number of Mississippians and oppose the progressive liberal views on human sexuality mandated by the Obama Administration.SIGN THE PETITION HERE
